I was looking for the owls on the trail but didn't see them. I was ready to leave and I saw a birder I knew in the parking lot. I told him I hadn't seen the owls but had seen other good birds. He went down the trail and I got in my car. He came back to my car and told me he had, in fact, spotted the owls high in a tree close to the trail head. The owls were "sleeping" but a motorized cart came up behind me and one of the owls shot its eyes open and ear tuffs went up. Here's the shot!
