I just wanted to cross to the other waterside but was surprised by a swarm of seabirds following the ferry. The gulls already knew what I was about to discover: many of the other passengers aboard had snacks with them - specifically to feed birds! Apparently common knowledge but for me it was an amazing surprise and an additional reason to visit Amanohashidate - one of Japan's popular three views.
