Mississippi White Flight
Egrets circle a lagoon that feeds into the Mississippi River half-a-mile downstream, near the tiny town of St. Mary, Missouri. The area appears unchanged since the days of Mark Twain. Wild "Life On The Mississippi" is plentiful here. And, on a dark and moody fall day, the birds seemed to radiate like prehistoric ghosts as they swirled about, spooked by something I could not detect.
