A roof tile ogre in a temple
A roof tile that had protected a temple before. A Onigawara was placed casually on the ground of the temple. It is a typycal roof ornamentation found in Japanese architecture. Oni and gawara mean ogre and roof tile respectively. It is meaningful that onigawara make use of glare so that bad things will not approach buildings.
