Newly hatched nymphs of a shield bug
Here are cute, tiny (a few mm each), newly hatched nymphs of a shield bug belonging to the genus Antestiopsis (Hemiptera), with the species most likely being Antestiopsis cruciata. Nymphs are young ones of insects, and these had formed a ring around the eggs, all sliced out in the same direction, and on the underside of a palm leaf. They remained in their place for a few days before moving on. The adults, which are coloured quite differently from these nymphs, live on a jasmine climber nearby.
