Back in 2012 I took this picture at Lake Chūzenji, Japan, to capture what I considered to be a drastic contrast of elements. Both the street and the red veranda, divide the scene in opposites illusions: hot and cold, dry and wet, desert and snow, earth and water, dark and light, death and life. Yellow and blue are in themselves opposites within the colour palette. Even the shape of the street resembles a yin yang.
