Walking around the French Quarter in New Orleans is always a treat with the old French and Spanish architecture. The overhanging balconies soften Louisiana’s heat, their railings woven together like vines frozen in time. Cast iron balconies are at once bulky and intricate, their patterns tangled with flowers, leaves, and other motifs from nature.
