    Edit Photo Details A Finch's Farewell   #bird #galapagos #darwin #finch
As we were waiting at the airport on Baltra Island in the Galapagos for our flight back to "civilization", we were visited by this Small Ground Finch. This is one of the group of birds referred to informally as Darwin's finches -- a characteristic native of this archipelago. This bird hopped around non-stop, cleaning the pavement and seeming to wish us a merry farewell. The challenge of taking this photo was waiting for the bird to stand still for an instant.
