As we were following two lionesses in the tall grass, our guide explained that these two females often take to the tall grass to find warthogs. While all lions will hunt them, some become "experts" and that is the majority of their food. It is a quite difficult catch for them. First of all, the warthogs are very speedy and have extremely dangerous tusks. Secondly, they have very thick necks causing the lions to keep their grip for longer than just about any other animal.
