Every summer I have the wonderful opportunity of walking a couple hundred feet up my block where I live to photograph young coopers hawks that learn to hunt and survive in my neighborhood. The parents must have a nest nearby and the hawks have plenty of food as my block is surrounded by woods. On this particular day, we had a passing storm and the three birds were soaked. Each one started to preen and magically the sun came back out and the birds were beautifully backlit.
