    On my first day in Timbuktu I was walking down the street when a young man came up to me. From his shoulder pouch he pulled a T-shirt that read "I have been to Timbuktu." He asked me if I wanted to buy one and I said, "Of course. That's what I came for." He laughed and said "Ten dollars." I did
