Each Spring since 1959, Sombrero Ranches’ Great American Horse Drive moves over 400 horses from winter pastures in Brown’s Park, CO to summer fields 12 miles west of Craig, CO. The journey of 62 miles takes two days during which wranglers follow the horses through open range to Hwy 40, down the middle of the main street of Maybell, CO, and continue East on the highway to their destination. The horses set the pace, and sometimes they are in a hurry!
