    6:16am. Up at 4am to get to the top of Haleakala crater for the sunrise. Hawaii warm???? Nah...We were freezing our butts off waiting for the sunrise at 10,000 ft above sea level. Fortunately we had down vests and blankets to protect us. Here the clouds are a love/hate relationship. Without clouds, the sunrise is just pain boring. Too many clouds and you miss it completely. When we got there at 5:30 we were pretty socked in with clouds but by 6:00 the clouds broke and we had quite the treat.
