Celebrating The Festival du Voyageurs!
In Winnipeg, Canada we celebrate Winter when the rivers freeze and we build a giant skating rink at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. The fork of the rivers was a gathering place for our aboriginal peoples and subsequently on the route that the Voyageurs followed in opening up the West of Canada. Here we are preparing for the many events of The Festival du Voyageurs with workers building Ice Sculptures right on the Assiniboine River.
