The woods are different
What you see here is a swamp in the middle of a forest. There is at least one meter of snow, and why this specific spot hasn't snowed over properly during one weak of heavy snow fall is beyond me.
I reached this spot by skiing, it is not far from a skiing trail. My skis are specifcally made for traversing deep snow. They are just wider, so they don't sink. It is really fun to go wherever you want, and all this untouched snow leaves me with a sense of an ancient timeless world.
