The Big Tree is a famous live oaks in the world, Texas State Champion Virginia Live Oak in 1969. (Wikipedia). More than 1000 years old, like the redwoods and sequoias, these giants witnessed history, survived natural and man-made disasters, and are worthy of protection just as much as majestic landscapes and endangered species. Our daughters timed themselves walking around this giant, and was amazed when they realized it took just as long as walking around our neighborhood big cul-de-sac.
