Water Colour Strider
For water striders, the surface of water is akin to a sheet of rubber. They push on it to propel themselves without going under. Their movements seem abrupt yet graceful, making this shot quite difficult to execute. Early morning by a riverbank, I had to lie still till a swarm of these insects got used to my presence. Eventually, one came within focus and the reflected tree canopy made a painted background for this display of surface tension.
