The Power of the Ocean
During the winter season in Europe, the worlds biggest waves occur in Nazaré, Portugal. Due to the special canyon form of the bottom of the ocean, the waves can reach heights of over 35 meters (110 ft) and can be observed from very close distance. When you stand at the iconic lighthouse of Nazaré, you can feel the ground trembling underneath you when the gigantic waves crash on to the clifs.
This day in January 2018 probably the biggest wave ever was surfed by Hugo Vau from Portugal.
Wow, the intensity of the ocean is undeniable here! I love the perspective you have here, giving us a sense of scale of this cliff with the teeny people on the top next to this monstrous wave. The light catches the wave beautifully making it almost look like a painting.
