While browsing in a gem store I came across this sphere of Madagascar orbicular jasper, and was entranced. There is so much natural beauty in the world if we just take the time to look. I made this image of the stone with a flat bed scanner, and it reminds me of some of the recent photographs of Jupiter from the Juno spacecraft.
