The sulphur house
A National Guard soldier measure sulphur dioxide levels outside the famed sulphur house next to the fissure 9 sulphur vent. This scene which looks the same today even after the end of the eruption due to continuous steaming from fissure 9, has a surreal post apocalyptic look and eerie feel to it. A feeling of being in a natural war zone. Vegetation is not only dead it has taken on weird rusty and red hues caused by exposure to a combination of heat and chemical interaction for months on end.
