    Two Army National Guard soldiers check the area for hazards and sulphur dioxide levels. These surreal colours were a regular feature of living through the eruption. Fissure 8 fountaining above its own cinder cone in the middle of Leilani housing estate. Access to this side of the cone was very rare as usually the winds caused the VOG to settle around this side making it too dangerous even with masks on.
