Eider duck are very resourceful. In Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen - Svalbard, eider duck have settled in a space between the dog kennels. The reason is that predators, like polar fox and skuas, are afraid of dogs, and therefore the eider ducks increase their chances of survival. Ducklings are also born there. In the photograph a male eider duck is performing his courtship rituals to find a female to mate. You can still see the droplets of water on its chest from swimming.
