    Reported by:

The Pied Kingfisher hunts by hovering over bodies of water scanning for prey and then diving at speeds up to 50 km/h piercing through the water and catching small fish, crustaceans, and even some large bugs. After each attempted dive the Kingfisher will often perch on a nearby branch to recover its stamina. This female Kingfisher was catching her breath after a couple of unsuccessful dives.
