Martini Rosso
This is a polarized light photomicrograph of sugar crystals obtained drying a drop of Martini Rosso, the italian alcoholic beverage used to make many different cocktails. I had never taken micrographs of drinks until some time ago, because rocks are my favorite subjects.
It took four months(!) before the drop started to crystallize, but the final result is fascinating, isn't it?
Interference colors are due to the propagation of polarized light, and the size of subject is about 2 mm.
