Warming veins ...
They do this a lot of times when they are relaxing and the reason why they do this (cygnets or swans) is not commonly known and not always obvious. In this case this cygnet is warming up the blood through the veins in the foot by holding it in the low winter sun rays and it helps because there was no breeze at all.(shot taken with zoom 900mm (DX-chip) ).
