Edit Photo Details Cicada: Third Eye   #insects
This cicada portrait reveals a yellow dot between it's eyes suggesting a third eye or a bindi. I look for patterns and shapes in nature that we have incorporated into our collective psyche as humans. Cicada is from my Post-Mortem portrait series which was inspired by the Victorian practice of staged photographs of the deceased. This work is also inspired by the threat of extinction and endangered species, specifically of insects, moths & butterflies.
