Masaya volcano is located just 20 kilometers outside of Managua, capital of Nicaragua. You can walk all the way to the edge of the active crater. Looking down at the boiling lava lake is absolutely breathtaking. I can totally understand why Spanish conquistadors named the place "Boca del infierno" (gate to hell) about 500 years ago.
