Cukoo Wasp: Devious Walking Gems
My Grandfather pointed out this beauty to me on his porch and I spent an hour or so following it around with my giant camera lens. I had never seen an insect so beautiful nor so seemingly jewel encrusted! I later found out that it is called a Cuckoo Wasp (Chrysis Spp.), and it acts as a parasite by laying its eggs in the nests of target bees and wasps. < https://baynature.org/article/the-cuckoo-wasp-a-gorgeous-parasite/ >
