These rose bushes were planted by an elderly man for his wife many years ago, and, even though both are no longer living they still bloom in the front garden every spring. The house was since sold and converted into trendy downtown apartments where I now live. My neighbour, who knew the couple, told me that they were her favourite flower. Elderly people in the neighbourhood often stop to take them in for a long while before moving on. They seem to serve as a reminder of the couple.
