During the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Hindu devotees take over the popular beaches of Mauritius, performing various rituals and leaving statues of different deities in the ocean, as a way to ask for purification. Of course this colourful celebration attracts many tourists and curious passers by, who are greeted with traditional food and beverages by some devotees in a spirit of sharing.
