Marigold were first discovered by Portuguese in central America in 16 cent. It is also known as *Mexican flower* and it has mainly 30-33 species . In 12 cent. Macer wrote that merely looking at the marigold plant would *improve your eyesight and lighten the mood* . The flower representing passion and even creativity and thus know as *herb of the sun* . Both the leaves and flowers of marigold were used in the middle age as salad herbs .. Marigold are also use in Hindu religious ceremonies
