Fighting to Survive
The blackbrush (Colegyne Ramosissima)is common here in the desert southwest. It has to be hardy as rain rarely touches these parts of Utah. These tough plants exist with tiny amounts of water. This young plant will flower in May producing brilliant yellow wildflowers fragrant in nature and home to varies bees and other pollinators. The blackbrush is a vital plant in the desert ecosystem and during drought years it remains dormant. This year should be a banner bloom as the desert received rain
