The moon is aglow in the pre-dawn sky above the Chimney Rock headlands in Point Reyes National Seashore. I love the vivid blue color of the sky in the pre-dawn light. I took this photo from the Elephant Seal Overlook Trail at Chimney Rock as I was waiting there to photograph the sunrise. A similar image of the moon taken an hour earlier shows an inky black sky and photos later in the morning show a pale blue sky. What a difference an hour makes!
