Crushing Varanasi's Soul
Scenes of ongoing demolition in Varanasi, where the administration is razing down residential buildings along with ancient ornate temples in order to build a corridor to facilitate easy access to the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple for devotees. Many of these buildings were as old as 400 years old with mostly Dalit families living there for generations. Many were coerced to leave, only received half of the promised sums.
