This is La Perla, the famous over 200 years old shanty town of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The colorful makeshift buildings are quite the contrast to the powerful Atlantic Ocean, and my goal was to emphasize this contrast. This area is surrounded by the old city wall, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, which is seen in the background on the top of the hill. I learned afterwards that the music video of the song Despacito was recorded in La Perla.
