Wrong Place. Wrong Time.
A sea lion scrambles to get out of a whale's mouth before it slams shut. Sometimes, in the midst of a feeding frenzy, sea lions or birds don't get out of the way quickly enough and get caught up in a lunging humpback's mouth. The whale's throat is no wider than a grapefruit so they couldn't swallow a sea lion if the wanted to. They'll simply open their mouth and let the intruder scramble to freedom with quite a story to tell.
