Burrowing Owls are a protected species in Florida and live in only a few places. One of those places is the city of Cape Coral. As their name indicates, these small owls dig underground burrows to live in. In Cape Coral, these burrows are largely in residential neighborhoods and are marked with a border to keep people far enough away from the burrows.
