The Kilauea Lighthouse sits on the rocky peninsula of Kauai's north east side. This 52 foot structure, built in 1913, is no longer operational but the lamp is still lit for ceremonial events. These cliffs and tall grassy slopes are also the location of a Wildlife refuge and a breeding ground for many Hawaiian seabirds.
