Mating Rights
These Sharptail Grouse are battling for mating rights with the impressed females watching nearby. This ritual will be repeated over &over for the next two weeks or so. The birds arrive around sunrise and pose, strut bluff, puff prance and dance for a few hours in the early morning. As I's watching I noticed some Eagles& Osprey fly by but not close enough for the Grouse to flee. It's a nice way to spend the early morning hours on pleasant spring day. We like our chances during the Golde hour.
