The resplendent quetzal has inspired entire civilizations, despite the pressure over their habitat, finding them and having close encounters with them in the highlands of Costa Rica is still possible. The so called Cerro de la Muerte (Hill of death) should instead be called the hill of life, as it host most of the endemic wildlife of the region.
