I planned my shoot very carefully. The moon set at around 3:30am, giving me about an hour of darkness before blue hour. I planned to take a long "nap" from about 8pm to 3am, but I didn't sleep for one second in anticipation of doing my favorite type of photography. When it came time to shoot, I went straight to a composition I scouted earlier. I placed my light on a nearby rock to light my foreground. I even placed a 2-stop ND filter over the light to darken it enough to take this single shot.
