A trail on the grounds of Ft. Sheridan meanders through portions of oak savannah. These woods are ignited in the cold fire of fall splendor. The breeze from Lake Michigan creates a flickering of the leaves in the canopy. The trail drops into deep valleys carved by the melting glaciers of the last ice age and then pops back up onto a plateau of trees and open grassland. Much history resides here melding both natural and human aspects.
