Wolves don’t howl at the moon, but they might seem to reach up into space with every muscle of their bodies, from the stretched neck creating a powerful resonance projected as a song that calls out to the pack; while tiny muscles draw every hair of the body erect, adding energy like an electrical current that makes the pack tingle, sensing a more intimate bond. I have also shared many such moments as they drew me back, year after year, to the wolves, their songs, and their beauty.
