The girl in the image, Kaniza Khatoon, an 8 year old class 3 student, is racing her friends to the mid-day meal room, where she and the others will eat their meals together. I, being her class teacher, shortly after making this image, ran to forbid the racing, lest they fell and hurt themselves. Over time, sharing with these children in their success and more importantly failures, I have come to locate my own sense of purpose and belonging. And what is home if not where you belong.
