Pitching in the May rain
The temperature was 38 degrees Fahrenheit. There was a constant drizzle of cold rain. The mound was slippery. The bases were loaded. Pitching change called by the coach. My 11 year old son was called to step in. One of the youngest and one of the smallest. With cold fingers (and muddy knees) he tries to grip a wet ball. He rises to the challenge. This is spring ball in Michigan. This is May!
