Chametz Search, Night before Passover
Rabbi Schmidt, is counting pieces of chametz (leavened bread) which he holds in his hands, on the night before Passover. It is customary to wrap 10 pieces of bread in tiny bags, or in paper, that are to be "found," throughout the home, during the ritual search for chametz. After all of of the breadcrumbs have been collected and placed in a paper bag, a prayer of nullification is recited. The chametz is burned on the following morning, just before Passover begins.
