Carvings of Symbols
Touring the ChanChan archeological site. The Chimu created this palace as a labyrinth with the animals carved into the lower wall acting as a trick or direction to the interior areas. Nothing carved into these walls were by accident, the honeycombed sections here symbolize fishing nets since fishing was such a big part of their culture. Pelicans line most of the pathways at the bottom of the walls.
