Sigiriya rock fortress
This picture is taken on the top of the SIGIRIYA rock fortress. It took 1 hour to climb the rock in scorching 42 degrees celsius with severe amount of dehydration. Our attire was completely drenched in sweat, but boy I must say it is an amazing view from the top. The rock derived its name from "SINHAGIRI", which means "LION ROCK". It is said that Kasyapa king during the reign of 477-495 CE built a palace on the top of this rock. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site.
