The magnitude of the Grand Canyon is difficult to comprehend, even while standing here at the edge of the South Rim. These two trees help illustrate the scale of the canyon, and stand as symbols of how living things survive the harsh elements in Arizona. I traveled to the canyon by train through the desert, with family and friends during spring of 2017 after visiting Sonoma, Arizona. As its name connotes, the canyon, carved over millennia, embodies the grandeur of America’s natural beauty.
