Pressure on the Performer
The first Japanese crane/tancho site we visited was located at Tsurumidai. There is this huge congregation of Japanese cranes which are all going about their own business of foraging for breakfast. A few were in their own mating dances. On this side of the field, all, except one, was facing a solo tancho - it made me think of a nervous performer standing in front of an expectant audience. Perhaps a solo dance performance?
Cropping done to emphasize this portion of the field.
